Private X-Rays
X-Ray’s are performed at Central Chiropractic and Physiotherapy Clinic. These procedures are quick and painless and commonly used to obtain images of the inside of the body.
It is a very effective way of looking at the bones and can be used to help detect wide range of conditions. X-Ray’s are usually carried out in hospital X-Ray departments by trained specialists called radiographers, although they can also be done by other healthcare professionals, such as dentists and chiropractors.

Problems that may be detected
- Bone fractures, break misalignments & dislocations
- Fractures of the shoulder, collarbone, elbow, wrist & arm
- Fractures of the hip, knee, leg & ankle
- Foot stress fractures & shin splints
- Problems in cervical, thoracic & lumbar spine
- Scoliosis (abnormal curvature of the spine)
- Spinal stenosis
- Non-cancerous & cancerous bone tumours
X-rays are a type of radiation that can pass through the body. They can’t be seen by the naked eye and you can’t feel them. As X-rays pass through the body, the energy from X-rays is absorbed at different rates by different parts of the body. A detector on the other side of the body picks up the X-rays after they’ve passed through and turns them into an image. Dense parts of your body that X-rays find it more difficult to pass through, such as bone, show up as clear white areas on the image. Softer parts that X-rays can pass through more easily, such as your heart and lungs, show up as darker areas.
X-rays can be used to examine most areas of the body. They’re mainly used to look at the bones and joints, although they’re sometimes used to detect problems affecting soft tissue, such as internal organs and the cervical and lumbar areas of the spine.
The cost of an X-Ray starts from £100 per area and include a verbal report.
Digital X-rays use modern sensors instead of film to capture high-resolution images. They’re faster, more efficient, and expose you to significantly less radiation compared to traditional X-rays.
Digital X-rays can reduce radiation exposure by up to 80% compared to older, film-based systems, making them a much safer option for diagnostic imaging.
Digital X-rays may have a higher setup cost for clinics, but they often work out more cost-effective for patients due to faster results and no film or development fees.
At Central Chiropractic Clinic, digital X-rays are priced as follows:
- £100 per area (includes report of findings – prepaid)
- £150 per area (includes a full written report – prepaid)
Our team will help determine the appropriate option based on your needs.
Digital X-ray systems began replacing traditional film X-rays in the early 2000s, offering faster diagnostics and safer imaging.
No. Digital X-rays do not use film. Instead, they capture the image electronically, allowing instant display on a monitor for immediate analysis.
They can reveal a wide range of conditions including spinal misalignments, arthritis, fractures, postural issues, and other musculoskeletal concerns relevant to chiropractic treatment.
All X-rays involve a small amount of radiation, but digital X-rays minimise this risk. At Central Chiropractic Clinic, we adhere to strict safety protocols and only recommend imaging when clinically necessary.
Yes. It’s considered safer due to its significantly reduced radiation levels, enhanced image clarity, and faster processing, reducing the need for repeat scans.
The full process usually takes around 10 to 15 minutes, including positioning, scanning, and image review.
Yes, you can. We accept self-referrals for private X-rays, so there’s no need to see your GP beforehand. This allows for faster access to imaging and results.
We provide most results on the same day. Your chiropractor will go over the images and findings with you during your appointment.
