Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy

What Is Massage? Massage Therapy has been practised for thousands of years. If you think about it, we have all used massage at some time in our everyday lives: – if your child falls and bruises a knee, you “rub it better”.

This is a basic form of massage. Massage is touch; touch that is structured and used for therapeutic benefits. Touch has been shown to be vital to health and well-being

The way we practise massage therapy now has evolved and developed over centuries and has been informed by the knowledge and practises of different cultures. The incorporation of a scientific knowledge base, an understanding of anatomy and physiology, has enabled techniques to be developed that can be used to address specific musculo-skeletal conditions with effectiveness.

How Does Massage Therapy Work? Massage Therapy is a holistic approach treating the whole person – body, mind and emotions.

  • Improving circulatory systems
  • Promoting a healthy balance within the body
  • Boosting the immune system
  • Relieving pain and muscular tension
  • Helping to restore joint function and mobility
  • Promoting a general feeling of well-being, boosting self-confidence and positive thinking

Sports, Remedial and Holistic Massage

Sports and Remedial massage is tailored to each individuals needs to positively enhance their way of life. It can assist in helping you correct your posture and imbalances when muscles and tendons become damaged, impaired and knotted.

It is a deeper more powerful treatment, incorporating advanced massage techniques, which help eliminate toxins, which can cause pain and stiffness.

Regular body massage will help alleviate pain/discomfort. It will aid in your recovery after a race or workout. You can benefit from a half an hour massage, focusing on a specific area that needs attention or an hour for a more general overall maintenance massage.

Who can have Sports Massage?

Despite the name ‘Sports Massage’ it is not only for those who take regular exercise, we are all likely to suffer from muscular tension or discomfort during our lives, whether you are suffering from emotional stress, looking after a family or caused by repetitive occupational activities, you will benefit from this type of massage.
