Chrondromalacia Patellae.
(Patellar bursitis or commonly known as “housemaid’s knee”) knee Pain and injury Cold/low level laser therapy/ treatment.
Chrondromalacia Symptoms cause sensitivity and a grating sensation accompanied by pain in front of the knee or just under the knee cap. The knee pain becomes worse after sitting for a prolonged period, getting out of a chair or after driving a car. The knee cartilage is affected from overuse, injury and/or a blow which may lead to an injury, such as a misaligned patella. Chondromalacia is treated with rest or immobilization. Physical therapy, especially quadriceps strengthening and hamstring stretching may also be helpful. Surgery is beneficial if there is a problem with the alignment of the patella that cannot be corrected with therapy.
Treatment with anti-inflammatory medications, ice packs and rest may help. (View our Cold/low level laser therapy section under inflammatory conditions.). Bursitis of the knee occurs on the inside of the knee (anserine bursitis) and the front of the kneecap (patellar bursitis, or commonly known as “housemaid’s knee”). Bursitis is generally treated with ice packs, immobilization, and anti-inflammatory medications or Cold/low level laser therapy.
