Knee Pain and Injuries.

Various knee injuries can come with their own difficulties when treating with conventional methods. Tendonitis can create fibrous adhesions and scar tissue, arthritis can erode the cartilage within the joint thus stiffening the joint and surgery often causes scar tissue to form which can disrupt the normal biomechanics of the knee and complicate recovery

Knee Pain Injuries, Treated with Shockwave Therapy.

Shockwave Therapy Treatment for Knee Arthritis and Knee Injuries

Here at Central Chiropractic & Physiotherapy Clinic we have been using Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy (ESWT) to treat these conditions and many others. Shockwave therapy breaks down scar tissue and stimulates blood vessel growth which helps to restore muscle function and promote healing. The Journal of Surgical Research 2012 showed ESWT is effective in preventing knee arthritis. The American Journal Of Sports Medicine 2007, showed 90% of patients experienced a significant improvement in patellar tendonitis. Furthermore, The Archives of Orthopedic Trauma Surgery 2007 showed significant reduction in the progression of knee arthritis (Shockwave therapy stimulates cells to produce cartilage). If left long enough without the correct intervention knee injuries often lead to chronic debilitation as many people believe that lots of rest and medication will lead to a fast and full recovery. This approach will work for a percentage of people, but many people will need further conservative treatment before surgery should be performed.
